About Us
30 a Day is a math coaching service founded and operated by Cory Needham, a credentialed mathematics teacher in Windsor, California. The service pairs each student with an adaptive online learning platform (Math Academy) and a human coach who keeps them accountable, celebrates their wins, and intervenes when they get stuck.
Our students practice 25 to 40 minutes a day, four to five days a week, and progress through individualized course paths set by the platform's diagnostic engine. Their coach checks in daily by text message, reviews progress weekly, and communicates regularly with parents.
The service is designed to be affordable for every family in Sonoma County. Tuition is partially subsidized by community partners, civic clubs, and charter school instructional funds where applicable, so that no qualifying student is turned away for inability to pay.
How It Works
The platform
Students learn on Math Academy, an adaptive learning system that diagnoses each student's current skill level, identifies prerequisite gaps, and routes them through individualized practice. Math Academy reports that students complete lessons correctly on the first attempt 93% of the time and on the second attempt 98% of the time.
The coach
Each student is paired with a personal coach. The coach does not teach math content — the platform does that. The coach's role is to ensure the student actually sits down and does the work, to celebrate progress, to communicate with parents, and to make adjustments when life gets in the way.
The accountability system
Coaches communicate primarily through SMS text messages, supplemented by short weekly video check-ins. Daily activity is tracked through the platform's own usage logs, so progress is objective and visible to everyone — student, coach, and parent.
SMS Program Disclosure
By completing our online parent consent & enrollment form, families enrolled in our coaching program agree to receive SMS (text) messages from 30 a Day on behalf of the assigned coach. This section describes how that messaging works.
Who receives messages
- The enrolled student, on the mobile phone number provided by the parent.
- The parent or guardian who completed the consent form, on the phone number they provided.
What messages contain
- Daily check-ins about Math Academy practice progress.
- Reminders when a student is behind on their daily learning goal.
- Celebrations and encouragement when a student hits goals or achieves milestones.
- Parent digests summarizing the day's or week's progress.
- Direct notifications to parents in case of three or more consecutive missed days, or any matter requiring family attention.
Frequency
Message frequency varies based on the student's daily progress. A typical day involves zero to four messages per recipient. We do not send messages between 9:00 PM and 7:00 AM local time except in urgent circumstances.
Costs
There is no charge from 30 a Day for receiving these messages. Standard messaging and data rates from your wireless carrier may apply. Consult your wireless plan if you have questions.
How to opt out
You may opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message from us. Your number will be immediately and permanently removed from our messaging system. You may also email us at hello@30aday.ai to request removal.
How to get help
Reply HELP to any message and a real human (Cory Needham) will respond as soon as possible. For non-urgent questions, please email us.
How we obtain consent
We do not send SMS messages to any number without explicit, written parental consent on file. Consent is collected through our online enrollment form, which captures the parent's electronic signature under the U.S. E-SIGN Act and California's Uniform Electronic Transactions Act. The form clearly describes what messages will be sent, when, by whom, and how to opt out. Consent records are retained for the duration of the family's enrollment plus three years thereafter.
Privacy commitment: Mobile information collected through this program is not sold, rented, or shared with any third party for marketing or promotional purposes. Mobile information remains private to 30 a Day and is used only to deliver the coaching service.
